Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April 2024 

 

Orange Bike Ride in a town near you!

Across the country Nederlanders  are organising family friendly Orange Bike Rides to promote cycling as a sustainable means of transport for all of Aotearoa New Zealand to enjoy. 

Dress to impress!

Dress up and decorate your bike in ORANGE, fantastic prizes to be won!

Orange Bike Rides will take place in the following locations:

Auckland

Come and join us for an easy fun ride around MOTAT and the Western Springs Park. Dress to impress in the colour Orange and pimp up your bikes! Prizes will go to participants with the most elaborate outfit or decorated bike!

Your bicycles must be roadworthy, cyclists must wear helmets. Please also bring plenty of sunblock, water and a raincoat. This is a self-guided ride, so children must be accompanied by an adult.

Blenheim

Dressed in orange, enjoy a complimentary tompouce / tompoes before a beautifully relaxed ride around the vineyards!

The Hutt (28 April)

An orange-themed, family-friendly, bike celebration at Avalon Park, Hutt City. Confidence course, bike checks, Mystery Trail, Dutch treats.

Kāpiti Coast

On 27 April from 10AM, another Orange Bike Ride will be held in Otaihanga Domain and along the Waikanae River, building on the hugely successful event of last year. All ages are welcome.

 

Prizes will be available for the best dressed bike and person, preferably orange.

There will be free Dutch biscuits/snacks available for participants and visitors. Paradise Coffee Cart will be serving Darkhorse Coffee and the Council is providing resources to keep the kids entertained.

New Plymouth

The main Ride will be along the Coastal Walkway approx. 9km - we start at Tasman Prospect (the grass area adjacent to the Egmont St Wind Wand carpark), from there we ride north on the foreshore, before turning at the Waiwhakaiho river mouth, and heading back to the start (Tasman Prospect).

 

The Family Ride will tag behind at a slower pace, stop to play at East End and return - approx 3.2km.

Bike Kitchen cycle maintenance available.

St Aubyn St, New Plymouth 4310, New Zealand

Rotorua (5 May)

A fun, social bike ride with stops for coffee, lunch and even a beverage or two.

Meet at the Dutch Club in Rotorua. Pay your own way, wear something orange or deck your bike out in orange, or both! Prizes to be won.

Any bike will do, you can take your friends, they don't need to be Dutch.

Waiheke Island

 

Join us for the Waiheke Dutch Bike Ride to celebrate 'Dutch Week' and all things Dutch cycling. Wear orange for maximum Dutchie festiveness but most of all bring your bike for an adventure and some Dutch games and snacks at the end. Will there be prizes? Will there be slight competitive fun? Very likely! An excellent opportunity to dust of the wheels of the whole family. Meet at Waiheke Bike Hub at 10am Sunday the 28th of April - ride will end up at Blackpool School Hall.

Wellington

Wellington! We know you love dressing up, so, dress to impress in ORANGE the national colour of the Netherlands!

A fun-filled event for all ages, starting and finishing at The Boatshed on the Waterfront

·       Distance: Approx 8km's

·       Ride starts at 4:00pm

Dutch treats await all participants at the finish line.

There will be a prize-giving for the best dressed cyclist and best decorated bike.

You can also join our King’s Day party afterwards as long as you register!
